Mangalore : The University College was said to be the best college in the 70’s and even at present days, with providing its best potentials to the students, said Prof T C Shivashankar Moorthy, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Post Graduate Studies in Commerce at University College on October 4, Monday. He also said that the University College has very good teaching staffs while compared to the other colleges.
The Mangalore University is making full effort to make University College as the model college and encourage the faculties. The fund of Rs 5 crore has been kept for the development of the college and other Rs 5 crore for the Kariappa College of Madikeri and Rs 10 crores for the development of the Mangalore University, he informed.
The amount of Rs one crore must be spent in a month and the amount of Rs 23 lakhs has already been spent for the construction of two rooms for the university college. The amount of Rs 3 to 4 crore is required for the development of the infrastructure in the college, he added.
The University College has come up with its PG programmes, further it must also establish research centers. There are around 65-70 research projects in the University. Mangalore University is said to be the best University for the research and stands second in the state.
The scenario of higher education in the state is at the number one position. The PG courses provided for the 63 students, gives an opportunity to spend two years to shape the life and teaches to live in the society, he said.
