Mangalore : A dead body of a young girl found at Phalguni river in Gurpur here on Wednesday July 9 morning.

The girl allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the bridge. The deceased has been identified as Mallika (16), a resident of Chilimbigudde, Gurpur.

Sources said, she came by auto rickshaw to the bridge on Wednesday morning. She was the youngest of Padmanna’s four children. She had recently discontinued her studies.

The reason for the suicide is not yet known. The dead body have been retrieved.

A case has been registered at Bajpe police station.
