Mangaluru : Members of the district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated the victory of the party in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections, by bursting crackers and distributing sweets here on Tuesday.
The BJP won 100 out of 198 seats in the BBMP and would be in power for the third consecutive term. The BBMP poll results were a precursor to the zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat elections expected to held in the State in January 2016 BJP leaders said.
Days of the Congress rule in the State are numbered, he said, adding that the BJP could win a majority on its own due to the hard work put in by its workers and leaders.
The victory celebrations also took place in Mangaluru. Several leaders, including Sulochana Bhat, K. Monappa Bhandary, Sureshchandra Shetty, Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Vedavyas Kamath and others participated in the celebrations held at the district BJP office.
