Mangaluru: This railway station like many others serves hundreds of people , close to 30,000 passengers use this rail head. With the aim to have basic medical service at the railway station, to prevent complications in the case of sickness, it has been decided to start a medical kiosk here.
According to sources, South Railways Palghat Division officers have provided the space and in the coming 15 days, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is expected to inaugurate it. The medical kiosk will be functioning at the side of the entrance to the Central Railway Station. The ticket counter is situated near and many passengers are expected to take advantage of this facility.
The creation and maintenance of the medical kiosk has been handed over to Mangaluru’s Unity Hospital. The booth will have a free provision of space, water, electricity facility from the railway department.
Qualified para-medics will provide there service here daily. Immediate treatment will be provided here for health related problems. If additional treatment is necessary, decision has been taken to appoint an ambulance here also.
