Mangaluru : The citizens of Mangaluru paid rich tributes to the martyrs on the occasion of Vijay Diwas at the War Memorial at Kadri in the city on Tuesday December 16.

The programme was organized by DK District Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Lions Club International District 317D and Shasthavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple Trust observed to commemorate India’s win over Pakistan in the 1971 war.

Speaking on occasion Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim said, the people to memorize the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers for the cause of their mother land. The martyrs memories will remain endless.

R Hithendra, City Police Commissioner, Uma MG, Principal District and Sessions Judge, N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, Dr Sharanappa, SP, ZP CEO Thulasi Maddineni , Vijayanath Vittal Shetty, Trustee of Shastavu Shree Bhoothanatheshwara Temple Trust, Manjunath Bhandari, Lions District Governor and others were present at the ceremony.

Col N Sharath Bhandary, president of Dakshina Kannada Ex-Servicemen’s Association Mangaluru welcomed the guests. S M Airan, general secretary, proposed the vote of thanks. Ex-servicemen paid their respect to the martyrs.
