Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation conducted a demolition drive near Rao and Rao circle on Friday July 28.

Mayor Kavita Sanil along with MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazeer and other officials  has took the initiative step  an ‘illegal’ encroachment at Rao and Rao circle. The compound wall belonging to SKACM society, within which construction is going on, was demolished.

The operation is being carried out with the support of police following complaints from the public and a survey carried out on the issue by the Mayor and her team on Wednesday in the city.

As of now, petty shops, street vendors, unauthorised boards, banners, flex, sign boards and others are being vacated at State Bank and nearby areas in the city. The operation is expected to continue until evening
