Mangaluru : Mangaluru Dasara celebrations organized by the Kudroli Gokarnanata Temple, are set to commence on October 15th and will continue until October 25th.
The grand Dasara procession is scheduled to grace the city on October 24th.
Speakint to the press H.S. Sairam, the president of the temple’s management committee at the temple on Thursday, October 5th, said that the installation of idols, including Ganesha, Nava Durgas, and Sharada, will take place on October 15th. Religious ceremonies and cultural performances in the evenings (from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.) will continue until October 25th. He emphasized that this year marks the 34th edition of Navaratri celebrations at the temple.
The Dasara procession on October 24th will commence from the temple at 4 p.m., featuring approximately 70 tableaux. Following the procession, the idols will be immersed in the temple’s “pushkarini” or water body. The esteemed architect of the temple and former Member of Parliament, B. Janardhana Poojary, will lead these festivities, he said.
Harikishna Bantwal, a committee member, highlighted that the Mangaluru City Corporation has already begun illuminating a 7-kilometer stretch of the road along which the procession will pass.
The committee’s treasurer, R. Padmaraj, also mentioned that Chief Minister Siddaramiah, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, as well as other dignitaries including Union ministers, are expected to grace the celebrations with their presence.
