Mangaluru: Mangaluru Dasara organised by Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple was inaugurated by two widows, on Sunday at temple premises.
The inauguration was supposed to be done by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, but he cancelled the programme suddenly and didn’t attend the programme. So, the inauguration was done by temple women priests Shanti and Lakshmi.
Speaking on the occasion former union minister B Janardhana Poojary said that entire world should respect women. The temple has shown respect to the widows before also.
“We are passing a strong message to the world by allowing two widows to inaugurate the Dasara,” he said.
Temple leaders jayashri Suvarna, Vedakumar, Nityanada Kotyan and others were present.
God will not forgive CM says Poojary before the inauguration
“CM should have attended the programme, he has committed a big mistake by being absent for the inauguration of Dasara inauguration ceremony. The god will not forgive his mistake,” he said.
“We haven’t invited CM to the Dasara, but police told us that CM will be coming to witness Dasara at Kudroli temple. Police had completed the security check also. We were hopeful of CM’s visit and we had believed that CM will inaugurate the Mangaluru Dasara. But after visiting ‘a Congress leader’s’ house in the evening he decided not to visit the temple and Dasara,” he added.
