Mangaluru, Oct 8: Mangaluru Dasara procession, known for its grandeur, devotion, enthusiastic activists and attractive tableaux, began from Kudroli Temple on Tuesday, October 8.
The procession will end with the immersion of 12 idols including nine forms of Goddess Durga, idol of Goddess Sharada, apart from Adi Shakti and Ganapathi, in the temple pond at Kudroli on the morning of Wednesday, October 9.
Many tableaux carrying artistes performing tiger dances, mythological scenes, still pictures, DJs, other dancers etc began the journey on Tuesday evening, which will traverse a nine-kilometer route via Lady Hill, PVS Circle, Hampankatta and Car Street before reaching back Lord Gokarnanatheswara Temple at Kudroli on Wednesday morning.
People, who lined up streets through which the procession went, feasted on the scenes to their hearts content through their eyes.
There are some changes in the procession this year as decided by the temple authorities. The trucks carrying Sharada idol moved first and Navadurga idols were carried after that, followed by other tableaux. Every year tableaux moved first followed by Navadurga and Sharada.
