Mangaluru : A government school headmaster was arrested for raping a guest teacher on the school premises in Belthangady taluk limits.

According to the complaint lodged by the 28-year-old guest teacher of the government school, she alleged that Manjunath K V, 41, had raped her seven months ago.

She alleged that on April 14, after Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations, the headmaster asked her to stay back, when everyone else had gone home, and he raped her in the school premises. She also added that the headmaster also promised her a permanent job at the school. On lodging the complaint after seven months since the incident took place, the survivor stated that she was scared to report to same at the time. She had quit her job at the school this academic year.

Police said they have sent the survivor for a medical test. Meanwhile, the accused headmaster has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 376 and 506 at Uppinangady police station in this regard.
