Mangaluru : Deputy superintendent of police M K Ganapati, hailed from Kodagu, allegedly ended his life in Madikeri lodge on Thursday July 7.
Ganapati (46) was recently transferred from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. He had served in various posts. He completed his education in Kodagu.
It is said, Ganapati rented a room in Vinayak lodge at Madikeri on Thursday. The receptionist of the lodge said that he came there alone in the morning and went out till afternoon. The incident came to light later in the evening when police personnel visited the lodge, sources said. He was serving as DySP in Mangaluru IGP office. On Thursday evening he went to Madikeri from Mangaluru. A suicide note was found his room, sources said.
Sources said that he was being harassed by higher officers in the police department and a politician, and was also miffed with the state government over the issue of transfers in the department.
He survived his wife. She stays in Mangaluru.
