Mangaluru : Diligent follow up of an issue, not exactly the USP of elected representatives, has won D Vedavyas Kamath, Mangaluru City South MLA, rare kudos on social media. The follow-up pertained to the well-being of more than 30 youths who were stranded in Kuwait and reached India exactly three months to the date, on Thursday, and the positive feedback that one of the stranded youths, who is rebuilding his life, gave to the MLA.
The youth in question is Mohammed Irfan from Bantwal, who is now settled there. He with other youths, returned to India, thanks to Good Samaritans in Kuwait, and Kamath locally, who took the matter up with the MEA, which saved them from an uncertain fate in the Middle East. “He is working hard and is happy at what he is earning. He also enquired as to what the other boys who returned from Kuwait were doing. I am glad to know they are all working fine in this glorious country,” Kamath posted on Facebook.
“It’s really a relief listening to what Irfan ji said. The stress these boys went through during those hard times is really sad, but it’s great they are all catching up. Thank you. D Vedavyas Kamath,” the post reads. Netizens responded in kind. Prashanth Kunikullaya Ubrangala said, “Great. Connecting people with right gesture.” Manel Sadashiv Nayak queried, “Did any of them voluntarily contact you and thank you? If yes, great!”
Setting this doubt to rest, the MLA said, “Yes sir, many have actually met me several times.” Yogitha Kompadavu said, “Unique MLA. Hats off 2 ur dedication on srvng ppl sir..” Vijaya Nirmala pointing out that, “where there is a will there is a way adds – I don’t understand why people so insecure leaving (read living) abroad.” Karthik Kodial notes, “It was the greatest achievement of you sir…we are proud of u and for you…god bless ..jai.”
