Mangaluru: Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samti and Siddi Vinayaka Pratishtana (SVP) organised ‘Tene Habba’ to mark 13th anniversary of the Ganeshotsava, at Omkar Nagar near Bunts Hostel on Monday.
The programme was inaugurated by Col Ramesh Shetty Brahmavar by hoisting the Ganeshotsava flag. SVP Managing trustee and President of Buntara Yane Nadavara Matr Sangha Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi brought the ‘tene’ (new corn) in a procession.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr A V Shetty and Chandralekha Shetty by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi said that derogatory comment on Kateel Shree Durgaparameshwari shows the sick mentality of some people. The comment has hurt the feelings of all the devotees.
“Some cheap minded people are knowingly or unknowingly creating problems. Let’s pray for such people so that the god almighty may bless them to know what his power is. No need of getting hurt by someone’s comment let us pray for his good health and mind,” he said.
In his address Col Ramesh Shetty said that Bunts community celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi as a major festival. “The entire Bunts community gathers together, to celebrate this festival. As we all know Lord Ganesh is the god of wisdom and he brings luck to us. Bunt community’s functions begin with a prayer for Ganesh, because we all believe that Lord Ganesh is the best clearer of obstacles,” he added.
Further he said that youth should try to join army, because it is considered as one of the noble services. It is also a very much adventurous service. One can lead a disciplined life, if he joins the army.
Later the new corn was distributed among the devotees by DR A V Shetty and Chadralekha.
