Mangaluru : The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), which was mulling introduction of online water supply bill payment system for the past couple of years, is now ready to launch the same.
The MCC will soon commence the online bill payment system for water consumers in the city. Once the online payment option is ready, nearly 90,000 consumers in the city can pay their bills using their mobile phones or personal computers. At present, residents either have to go to the MCC office, Mangalore One centre, or select bank branches to pay the water supply bills. In fact, the online services of MCC were launched during a council meet held on October 31, 2017, but bill payment options were not included in it. The city corporation also has plans to introduce online payment facility for payment of property tax and other payments.
MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Shahadi told that the process of introducing online water bill payment system is under progress.“Very soon, the system will be ready and it will be available for the public on our website,” he said.
An official from the engineering section said data regarding water connections in the city has been collected by the agency, and the system may be launched within a week.
“Once the process is complete, a link will be added to our website http://mangalorecity.mrc.gov.in. Consumers may make their payment by clicking the link through their personal computer or mobile phones. They will have to enter their consumer number to access the account and make payment through internet banking or using their credit cards,” the official said.
Currently, the website of MCC has options to apply for trade licence, building licence, register birth and deaths, to submit grievance and other facilities. The addition of online water bill payment will help the MCC to increase its revenue,he added.
