Udupi : Police arrested nine miscreants on Friday, April 20 (including 9 from Mangala colony near Dasarath Nagar) for suspected criminal activity, arriving in Manipal in a grey Maruti Omni vehicle. DYSP Prabhudeva Mane and his subordinates chased them .The omni reached a dead end and those inside ran out to escape on foot. A few of them turned to assault the cops in pursuit, but the police Shot 3 rounds of fire and rounded up 3.

The vehicle glass was broken. Its registration suggested it was from Bengaluru south. The car was a victim of assault, with false plates, a dent on the front and doors tied with cloth, and a stick encounter on it …….

The other 6 persons were taken out from their houses and elsewhere. The cops said two or more were still at large, and went about searching in thickets located around Manipal.

The arrested guys were from coastal districts.

The police could not say about their illegal activities or crimes. The matter would be cleared on April 21 the cops assured.
