Mangalore : M Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas has condemned the gang rape of a medical student at Manipal and said the state government was efficient to handle the situation effectively.
Moily who was in Manjeshwar on June 23, Sunday to take part in a function, was speaking to reporters. He said there was a need to put an end to the menace of drugs and alcoholism in and around campuses. He said no scope should be given to shield the accuse and the culprits must be given the strictest punishment. He said the sanctity of an educational hub like Manipal must be protected.
On the fluctuating oil prices, Moily said it was due to rupee devaluation and said oil prices have been reduced four times so far under his tenure.
