Udupi: The new generation 128 slice Philipps Incisive CT scan machine which helps in accurate detection in the process of identifying disease was inaugurated at Manipal Radio diagnosis division which is near Manipal Kasturba Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Care by Dr Sudarshan Balla, President of Manipal Health Enterprises, Bengaluru, on Wednesday.
Dr Sudarshan addressing the gathering at Dr T.M.A. Pai Convention Hall remembered his days as a student. Then, the CT scan was not available. Diagnosis tests were not advanced. Now through radio imaging, the detection of disease and images of growth has provided a high level of relief to the patient. Through this machine, doctors are now capable of identifying the exact cause and thereby giving a good diagnosis to the patients. These are the successful days of humanity, he said.
Manipal MAHE and Kasturba Hospital have come up with various schemes for the poor through which its services are available at a subsidized price thereby creating hope for the poor. Now, through this machine, the poor too will be benefited. This is the first CT scan machine to be installed not just in India but also in SouthEast Asia. Through the use of this machine the efficiency and the accuracy in deciding the disease becomes definite, said MAHE Chancellor, Dr H.S. Ballal, who presided over the function.
In this time where the patients have lost their faith in doctors, this machine helps in winning back their faith again, said Manipal Health Enterprises Administration Director and CEO Dilip Jose.
The relationship between Phillips and MAHE has helped in improving the standard in detection of diseases. After obtaining the license, the machine will begin its service to the public. This is a milestone in the modernization of the hospital through the use of safe, efficient, fast and improved machines, informed MAHE Chancellor DR. H. Vinod Bhat.
Hospital CEO C.G. Muttanna, KMC dean Dr Prajnya Rao were also present. Hospital medical president Dr Avinash Shetty welcomed the guests. Radiology division chief Dr Smrathi Shripati explained the specialities of the machine. Professor Dr Muttu co-ordinated the programme.
