Udupi: Speaking at a convention of BJP Workers and leaders in support of by-poll candidate Sunil Kumar, here in Udupi, CM DVS Gowda asserted that BJP had done more for people in 3 years than what Congress or JD-S might have done in 50years in developmental works.
It was BJP that responded to problems of fishermen. The citizen’s services Act would be brought in 4 districts on an experimental basis, before extending it to other areas. BJP is also concerned about youths of the state and has projects for them up its sleeves, the CM announced.
When Congress was being attacked by CM in his speech, former MP Manorama Madhwaraj, who had joined Congress but was silent for some years, was seen among BJP leaders, indicating that she had rejoined BJP, while her son Pramod was still a Congress leader.
She was still unhappy with UPCL but could not remain in Congress for long. She expected a Governor’s poet, yet Congress did not offer it to her, and she kept her distance for months. When she heard Sunil was the BJP candidate, she returned to the BJP fold without giving reasons.
HN Anantkumar in his speech spoke highly of Manorama as having done a lot of good to fisheries community to which she belonged. He added that BJP had done a lot for Udupi development.
He blamed Congress for all existing national problems like corruption or terrorism. KS Eshwarappa spoke in favour of Sunil Kumar, who also spoke to assure people of his services.
V. Kageri, and MP Nalin Kumar, were also present and made short speeches. Local MLAs and leaders were in the gathering to back the BJP candidate.
