Mangalore : On Saturday (July 3), Cherukuri Rajkumar, considered a top Maoist leader in Andhra was gunned down by, Indian Police in a densely forested region in southern Andhra. The Maoist leader was crossing into Maharashtra on Friday when he was executed by waiting police, said senior officer Pramod Kumar in Hyderabad. Azad as the Maoist leader was known spent over 35 years in his violent career. He attempted to kill two former CMs in AP and had on reward on his head of Rs. 12 lakhs or 25,000 dollars. Maoist in a gang, had killed 26 soldiers of paramilitary level 3 days ago, in Chattisgarh state. The dead rebel was a prominent member of Maoist Central Committee and a spokesman for insurgents. The union Govt. is now after Maoist leaders attacking CRPF men in ambushes, with a vengeance.
