Mangalore : The Shree Sooryanarayana Temple at Maroli witnessed a grand function on July 8, Sunday when the first load of stones for the renovation arrived at the temple from Tamil Nadu. Special Pooja was also offered to the stones.
The lorry was given a grand welcome at Pumpwell in the presence of several dignitaries. Later the stones were taken in a colourful procession to the temple.
A function was also held at Pumpwell which was attended by several eminent persons including Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Monappa Bhandari, MLC, Ananthakrishna, ex-officio Chairman of Karnataka Bank, KC Naik, Chairman of Mahabaleshwara Builders, JV Seetharam, Chairman of JV Sons, Balakrishna Kottary, President of the Suryanarayana Temple,Chittaranjan, President of Garodi Temple, Keshava, Sabitha Misquith, Praveen Chandra Alva, Asha Gretta D’Silva, Corporators and others.
The Temple will be renovated at a cost of Rs 15 crores. A community hall will also be constructed as part of the renovation.
