Mangalore: A Trust was formed in 2002, in memory of Yadava Poojary, who fell to enemy bullets on March 10, a few months after his Army training and posting in the Rajasthan desert on the borders then.
Yadava studied in Ammunje and did a PUC course in Benjinapadau. He did a few jobs and then joined the Army on the advice of an Air Force officer.
His friends set up a Trust a day after the funeral. The Trust will build ‘Amarashree’ as a tribute to the brave young soldier who is no more.
The Trust has organised health camps eye camps, and local Kabaddi games for 3 years.
Later, it conducted several other programmes, educational and cultural.
The Trustees (Yadav’s friends) have built houses for the poor and arranged blood donation camps for the sick.
SSLC /PUC students are given scholarships and school kids get uniforms from the ‘Veer Yodha’ Yadav Friends Trust. A memorial building is raised now on near Ammunje Vinayak Temple surroundings with a foundation stone due to be laid on March 11, said Praveen chowta and Ashok K.K. of the Trust.
