Mangalore : Following the complaints on bad rejuvenation of Gujjarakere lake, MCC Mayor Mahabala Marla visited the lake for inspection.
Mayor was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Kavitha, Mangaladevi Ward Councillor and Leader of Opposition in Mangalore City Council Premanand Shetty and other councilors.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that he will order a survey of Gujjarakere, which is one among the old lake in the city and was rejuvenated a few months ago.
He also said that after the survey, action will be taken to beautify the lake.
Gujjarakere Hitarakshana Samiti president, Nemu Kottari said that due to leakage, drainage water was released in to the lake. He also alleged that there was encroachment of the lake land. Hence he urged the Mayor to direct the officials to remove silt from the lake and revive it to its earlier form.
In turn, Mayor said that he will have a look into the file related to the lake and take up the revival work of the lake, immediately after ordering for a survey.
Later, he visited Jeppu Market venue and inspected the construction work of the new market building which is in progress.
Speaking on Market construction, Marla said that works related to drainage connection for the new building is in progress
