Bangalore : Setting BBMP Revenue department officials a target of Rs 2,500 crore in property tax collection on Wednesday, Mayor N Shanthakumari asked them to “keep an eye on owners of big properties” in the city while recovering taxes.
The BBMP Revenue Department has collected Rs 1,287.3 crore in property taxes as on August this year, up by Rs 340 crore compared to last year’s collection.
Shanthakumari asked officials to visit 25 properties every day and ensure that they behave well with the public when they visit their offices to pay taxes.
Shanthakumari also said commercial licences should not be issued to owners of convention halls who exploit the public by charging hefty sums, while failing to pay property taxes.
