Mangalore : City Mayor Gulzar Banu has directed the Corporation Commissioner to bring to her notice before embarking upon any raid on any shop or business establishment in the city.

However, there is no rule as such anywhere that the officials have to embark upon any raid after bringing the matter to the notice of the elected representatives.

It may be recalled here that there had arisen some confusion during the recent raiding spree launched by the MCC officials against unauthorized establishments. When  the MCC team had raided  an unauthorized slaughter house at Kudroli some time back, the mayor had released the seized sheep by imposing a meager penalty of Rs 2000. However, during the second time raid, the corporation commissioner did not permit imposing of penalty but instead had made arrangements for the auctioning of  the sheep the same day.
