Mangaluru : The Mangalore Bicycle Club (MBC) organised the Save Netravathi Protest Ride on Thursday morning supporting the Dakshina Kannada bandh in protest against the ongoing Yettinahole water diversion project and the larger Netravathi river diversion project. More than 100 cyclists take part in the ride.
Members of the Mangalore Cycling Club (MACC) joined the ride in good numbers. Members of both the clubs had participated in Save Netravathi Ride from the city to Netravathi’s confluence with the Arabian Sea at Ullal on October 4 last.
Today’s ride started at 6 a.m. in front of City Corporation Office at Lalbagh and moved via Urvastore, Lady Hill, PVS Circle, Bunts’ Hostel, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Hampankatta Circle, M.G. Road, and PVS Circle and culminated at the starting point. The ride covered about a distance of 12 km.
