Mangalore: Mayor Praveen Anchan of Mangalore is excited about Team India win in ICC ODI cup tournament of 2011 on April 2 in Mumbai, and wants Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s name to be given to an important road in port city, a la Bangalore (BBMP) attempts to do so, with CM’s blessings.
At the monthly meeting on Tuesday at MCC, he said that the Congress opposition corporators D.K Ashok’s request to name a road in Mangalore after the Ranchi wicket-keeper batsman (who was man of the match in finals), would be considered favourably.
The meeting was rocked by the recent 15% hike in Property Tax in MCC areas. Congress corporators wore black badges to express their disappointment over the fact that they were never consulted in such a sensitive matter before announcing.
