Mangalore: The Mangalore City Corporation under the leadership of MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash conducted the demolition drive for the drainage facility from Kottara cross to Kodical end on May 28, Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, MCC Commissioner said that the eviction of 14 houses coming in the survey number 7 will be made to provide the sufficient space for the free flowing water of the drainage channel which is supposed to be 30 ft. But since the owners of the houses on both the sides have captured the place, the waste water flowing channel has reduced to 3.5 ft.
Hence the MCC department has demolished half compound walls of the houses and gave a caution to owners to remove it and follow the rule of City Corporation.
The MCC has reserved the amount of Rs 30 lakhs to remove the violated rules of the drainage and repair after the survey in the special fund of Rs 100 crore sanctioned by the Chief Minister for the development.
Further the demolition drive in the places such as Bangra Kuloor, Pumpwell, Kannur, Padil and other places will be taken place to avoid violating the norms of the corporation. Commissioner urged the public to follow the rules of the corporation and build the healthy environment.
