Mangaluru: “Mangaluru City Corporation became the first corporation to get increment in Honorarium,” said Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza on Saturday.

Addressing the press reporters at his office he said that mayor has requested to increase the honorarium of the council members, as the present amount is not enough to lead a decent life.

“I had submitted a request letter to the CM requesting the increase in honorarium. Finally, CM has agreed to the increase the honorarium. From now onwards mayor will b paid Rs 16000 per month, deputy mayor will be paid Rs10000 per month rest of the council members will be paid Rs 6000 per month,” he said.

He further said that Mangaluru is the first city to receive the increase on honorarium. It will not be revised for further five years.

Mayor Harinath, MUDA Chairman, Kavu Hemanath Shetty and others were present.
