Mangalore: In the parishath meeting held recently, it is said that Mangalore City Corporation has received the SFC grant of Rs 2 for the development of infrastructure, but none of the opposition corporators was received the fund, said Opposition party corporator Lance Lot Pinto.
Speaking at the press meet held district congress office on August 1, Monday, he said that the MCC has given the grants of Rs 20 lakhs for the all the BJP corporators for the development of their ward, but no funds have been allotted to the wards of Congress corporators.
He also said that the grant has come in the month of April and still not distributed. The MCC is only working for the development of concrete roads and neglecting the interior roads. People find difficult to walk in the interior roads during rainy seasons, he added.
Mr Pinto said that the MCC is working for the water supply project 24*7 at the cost of Rs 135 crore. We are not against the water supply, but feel that this is not necessary, since the people are getting sufficient water now. But the Mayor and BJP corporators are not thinking on it and hold meeting 3 to 4 times in a month to discuss on this.
If this project implemented, then the public will have to pay at least Rs 100 extra in the bill, he added. The Mayor will get the special grant of Rs 1 crore for the development of his ward and MCC could give Rs one lakh each to the corporators of each ward, he said.
Former mayor Shashidhar Hegde said that the MCC has spent the amount of Rs 25 lakh for the infrastructure at Neelikai road and K S Rao Road, but not proper drainage facility has been implemented.
