Mangalore : The Mangalore City Corporation meeting held on Monday witnessed heated debate between ruling as well as opposition corporators over the issue of the increasing menace of Malaria and dengue in Mangalore.
The Congress corporators blamed the failure of the administration in putting a check to the spread of the diseases in the wake of the reporting of 136 dengue cases and death of one patient in the district The corporators alleged that the MCC has totally failed in taking preventive measures.
Corporator Naveen D’Souza had a complaint that the garbage collectors are avoiding their duty by not collecting the garbage in Bendurwell area. All those who assisted in the renovation of the MCC conference hall were honoured on the occasion by Mayor Gulzar Banu.
Mariamma Thomas opined that the various departments in the MCC too should be given a face lift.
Corporator Jayanti Shetty said that the garbage disposal system has totally failed in all the 60 wards. MCC Commissioner Harish Kumar said the MCC was making all out efforts to check the spread of contagious disease and added a team of 72 people was on a door to door visit.
