Surathkal: Mangaluru City Corporation officials conducted the raid for not renewing the trade license and for cleanliness in hotels, on Tuesday.
Health and Standing Committee Chairperson Kavitha Sanil led the team of officials and shut down five shops which were functioning without the trade license. The checked many shops for trade license.
Moreover, the team found some hotels which were passing the drainage water to the nearest open drainage instead of underground drainage. The team fined Rs 15000 to to the owner of hotel City Lunch for passing the drainage water to a pond near the hotel.
Rs 15000 fine was also imposed on Hotel Adarsh for storing the waste water open.
Speaking to the reporters after the raid Kavitha Sanil said that nearly 400 shops at Surathkal didn’t renew the trade license.
“A notice had been issued to all the shops two months ago, but they neglected the notice and such shops have been locked down till they pay the fine along with the renewal,” she said.
