Mangalore, June 2, 2012: The health department of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) raided hotels and canteens near Navabharath Circle June 2, Saturday.
The team under the leadership of Health Officer Raghunath conducted a raid at Hotel Ocean Pearl and found all the details clean.
Though the trade license and other procedure were very clear at Hotel Ayodhya and team found everything mess up in the kitchen room. The team complained on the cleanliness and foods were kept open. The plates and glasses were not sterilized. The hotel owner also argued regarding the cleanliness with the officials.
Later they visited Danish Shawarma Hut next to Ayodhya and found rotten fruits and meats which were served to the customers and officials closed the shop and took the key.
At last they entered Hotel Taj Mahal, belongs to Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, who is also the president of DK Hotel Owner’s Association and found the license clean, but the kitchen room was unclean more than the officials expected.
The team found rotten banana which was used to prepare banana halwa and places was very untidy. The son of the Hotel owner angrily took the names of team to enquire in the MCC.
The MCC officials also said to cancel the trade license since it was very untidy and unhygienic place for customers.
MCC Environment Engineer Manjunath Shetty, MCC inspectors like Yashawant, Karunakar, Sushanth, Bharath, Santhosh, Basavaraj and others were in the raid teams.
