Mangalore: Several street vendors near State Bank and Central Market in Mangalore were targeted on July 24, Tuesday by the MCC officials for using the banned plastic bags of below 40 microns thickness.
On enquiry by the officials, the vendors revealed that they purchased the plastic bags from a wholesale shop near State Bank and also from another person who delivers the same near their place of business.
The wholesale shop was also raided by the MCC officials and sealed.
A total fine amount of Rs 2650 was also collected from the vendors found using the banned plastic bags. The raiding team of MCC was led by Madhu, environment officer.
