Mangaluru : After the Budget the opposition Congress criticized the Mangalore city Corporation budget presented on January 28, and said it is a anti-people and burden to the people.
Speaking to reporters here on January 29, Friday, Opposition leader in MCC Abdul Rauf criticised the BJP administration of the MCC for the proposed increase in property tax, water tax and trade licence fee and also solid waste management cess at a time when the common man is in problem due to the Covid pandemic. He said the budget has only added to the burden of the people.
He said the MCC administration was yet to respond to his appeal to waive water bills from March to July 2020 considering the Covid pandemic and also opposed the proposed hike in property tax by 15%.
He also opposed the proposal to tax vacant lands and said this too would be an unnecessary burden on people.
