Mangalore : Mangalore City Corporation handed over the responsibility of solid waste management to Mumbai-based Company Antony Waste Handling Pvt. Ltd, instead of awarding contract to multiple contractors.
In this regard, Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Mahabala Maarla and Antony Waste Handling Pvt. Ltd Managing Director Jose Jacob signed the agreement at his chamber on September 2, Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that the Company will start their work including divider cleaning, street sweeping, sanitation work, beach cleaning and vegetation cutting apart from door-to-door collection of garbage from the month of December.
MCC has handed over the project to the company by spending Rs 7 crore which will valid for a period of seven years. MCC will also be identifies as first to implement the pilot project in the state.
