Mangalore: The BJP government formulates innumerous plans to deliver dalits and have- nots from poverty, but actually drives them to the streets. During election times, promises are made to give lands and plats, even houses, but the MCC that had given written undertakings through officers to regularised illegal houses, today demands lakhs of rupees for documentary rights on houses built by 13 families in kulai in Mangalore taluk now. A notice has been issued to them by MCC asking the poor families to deposit huge sums of money or lose the homes, within a given period.
There is no scope for reducing prices on the areas encroached upon by families, beyond 30×20 or 30×40 feet, at present. Some of the households in kulai have received a legal notice to pay land value in 2 weeks from now. Those having sanctioned lands have been asked to pay certain amounts or face cancellation of land grants. The people in general, are in agony.
DYFI Chief Munir Katipalla is supported the basic cause of these 13 families under trouble.
