Mangalore : The fundamental rights of the people of the country have been compresses by the rulers, said Shivasundar, well known writer and journalist.
He was speaking at the seminar conducted by the People’s Union for Civil Liberties on M-SEZ, Media Freedom and Democracy held at Milagres Hall on July 24, Saturday. The two fact finding reports like ‘Horrifying Human Tragedy called Mangalore SEZ’ and ‘An Editor in Chains- His Miraculous Survival’ was released while it was moderated by Justice (rtd) M F Saldana, Chairman, Transparency International Karnataka.
Shivasundar said that none of the government can snatch the fundamental rights including the right to live, right to express and right against exploitation from the citizens of this country unless in the situation of state of emergency.
MF Saldanha said that, corruption in the country is completely out of the control. When BJP government came into power, the state was corrupted for about 49 percent, but when it completed 2 year, the percentage of corruption increased to 99 percent.
