Mangalore: Media must support the moderate voices in the society which however are very few in number, said eminent film maker Mahesh Bhatt.
Inaugurating the readers’ convention of Vartha Bharathi Kannada Daily as part of its decennial celebrations in Mangalore on September 14, Friday, he said media should never act puppets at the hands of the power centre. He also regretted the fact that the media today goes after what interests the nation rather than what is in the interest of the nation.
Jnanpeeth Award winning writer Prof. U R Ananthamurthy, said the society must stop generalizing things He also expressed his displeasure over TV channels taking up for discussion each and every topic while certain issues such as democracy and communalism are beyond discussion, he said.
A Special issue brought out to commemorate the decennial was released by Prof. Ananthamurthy.
