Mangalore : Children from Chinnara Thangudhama, a home for under privileged children made merry during a Meena Mela organised at Canara High School, Urva grounds on March 15, Friday.
The programme was organised by the Department of Public Education, Block Education Officer’s office and the Regional Resource Centres.
Asha Nayak, President of Child Welfare Committee and a student named Shareefa Zubaida inaugurated the programme.
Manjula, a inmate of Chinnara Tangudhama spoke on the occasion and said her joining the Chinnara Thangudhama gave a fresh lease to her life. She also said she aspires to be a good teacher in the future.
A science festival, food festival and various entertainment programmes were held.Philomena Lobo, Assistant Director of the Department of Public Instructions, presided over the function. Lakshminarayana, Block Education Officer, Gracy Gonsalves, Children’s Welfare Officer, Ashajyothi Rai of Aasare Trust Geetha Devadas, Assistant Project Officer of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and others were present.
