Mangalore : Various organizations, Public and Bus Owners held a meeting to discuss the bus ticket hike was held at Conference Hall of DC Office on Jan 6, Thursday.
Advocate Nagesh on behalf of bus owners, said that the Government has not increased the ticket fare in the previous year till now and event the High Court have approved to increase the ticket price when the diesel rate have increased.
But District Naragarika Horata Samiti president Sadananda, said that when the diesel price have reduced, the KSRTC buses will also reduce the ticket fare, but the private buses will not reduce it. Last time, when the government decreases the ticket fare, the bus owners went to High Court and now to increase let go to High Court once again.
He also said that the KSRTC is paying the tax to the Government based on passengers, but the private buses fill as much as passengers and pay tax according to the seats and cheating the government. There is many torture given to the school going children in the busses and lack of facilities like proper seats, hence the ticket fare must not be increased.
Hanumanth Kamath of Nagarika Hitharakshana Samiti, said that most of the public are not aware of the meeting hence it must be informed before two days. He also said that, when the rates of the commodities have increased there is increase in the pension and salary for the district administration staffs, but it do not happen to the common public. If the people who run the petty shops or other small business, they will spend all money for the busses. If the private buses are running with loss, then there is no need for it, let the government give permit to KSRTC city busses.
Muneer Katipalla, said that bus owners have complaint on the loss without hike in ticket fare, if that was the situation, then they would not run free busses for the people tom participate for Hindu Samajotsav. Responding to it, Azeez Parthipady, secretary of City bus owners, said that there is o politics in this and it was run with respect. Later he explained the road problem in the meeting.
DC Subodh Yadav Chaired the meeting. Seva Naik, Regional Transport Officer was present.
