Mangalore : The district congress committee staged Rasta Roko Movement near Hampankatta signal demanding to conduct CBI probe on illegal mining, on July 16, Friday.
Speaking during the rasta roko held for about 15 minutes, Advocate and congress leader Ivan D’Souza, said that though the CM BS Yeddyurappa is willing to discuss the issue with the central government, he is unwilling to take action against the ministers involved in the illegal mining scam, hence he urged the centre to order a CBI investigation into the matter.
The election commission must take action against chief minister for using derogatory language in assembly, he said.
The members of the congress committee called slogans against the chief minister and BJP government. Later the protestors were taken in the police van as well as a city bus to the police station.
Around 100 male and female members of the party participated in the rasta roko.
Youth Congress President Arun Coelho, Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Former Youth Congress President, MJ Hegde, spokesperson, Shashidhar Hegde, Moideen Bawa and Suresh Ballal were present.
