Mangalore : The members of Congress party also known as Messenger of Peace failed to maintain their status during the celebration of Gandhi Jayanthi celebrated in front of the Gandhi Statue outside Town Hall premises on October 2.

After the congress leaders garlanded the statue of the Mahatma, Ibrahim Kodijal in his speech urged the party men to maintain discipline in true adherence to follow the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, which evoked anger in some of the members present.

It is learnt that, the same leader had failed to maintain peace during the arrival of the Chief Minister on October 1 at Airport for not issuing him a pass to enter the airport and began to quarrel with the MLA in front of CM.

During the speech delivered on Oct 2 many leaders even questioned him of having the moral responsibility to say that. The quarrel continued and was only stopped after some party men intervene to pacify.

Several Congressmen including MLA JR Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, President of District Congress Ibrahim Kodijal, Interim and District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai and many others were present.
