Pajeeru (Konaje) Pics: Apul Ira: Mangalore University Registrar Prof.K.Chinnappa Gowda, addressing a religious gathering at the Go-Sammelan here on Saturday, stated that a country lived on city centres based on agricultural variations (like dairying), but India is strictly reliant upon rural farming for survival. He released a book on ‘Go-vardhana’ in a giant assembly of religious seers and common people today at Pajeeru Beejaguri.
Prof.Gowda referred to India at crossroads, facing too many problems in a material world. Nehru’s dream of making India a land of cities created problems for an overwhelming rural world in independent India. But India lived in its villages and you cannot centralize in some cities, within 30 states. But Gandhiji’s vision of building ‘Swaraj’ around rural folks and villages was more convincing. The present day budgets and five year plans prepared in city centres are built around agriculture which is India’s gift to world at large. A cow-centered thinking process has a protective tendency in it and has the motherly love that leaves out no one around, Prof.Gowda declared.
Elucidating the culture of this age-old country in a new era, he said that, culture had man, Animal and Plants as essential units in co-operation with each other in a large world. It is a misfortune and tragic feeling that Man destroyed animals and nature in modern days. This has to be checked, he asked and added, to both animals and plants to their levels of assisting Man in his everyday life. People have to be dedicated to the purpose of protecting cattle and such other animals that serve all human beings, along with plants he pleaded.
