Mysore : In an accident took place near Pandavapura in Mandya district killed at least 28 people, when a mini-bus they were travelling in plunged into a tank on December 14, Tuesday.
Tragic mishap, at least 28 people were drowned to death on Tuesday when a mini-bus they were traveling in plunged into a tank near Pandavapura in Mandya district.
As many as five injured people have been rescued and 28 dead bodies have been recovered from the Undabatthi tank on Mysore-Nanjanagud road in the evening.
According to eye witnesses, it is said that, a 11-month-old baby was one of the victims and most of the deceased were women.
The vehicle was carrying as many as 33 passengers, had attended ‘beegara ooota’ in Nanjanagoodu and was returning to Aralukuppe village in Pandavapura.
The area comes under the jurisdiction of former deputy chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah’s assembly constituency. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to the family of the deceased.
The injured have been admitted to KR Hospital in Mysore. The citizens were angry against the bad condition of the road and the district in-charge minister M Ramdas had to face agitated crowd in the hospital in Mysore.
