Mangalore : A seven-year-old boy was compressed to death when a mini lorry dashed into a motorbike in front of the Mangaladevi Temple in Jeppu on March 13, Sunday.
The deceased is Prajwal, the son of Ravi Rao Acharya, resident of Hoige Bazaar. The boy of first standard was returning home with his grandfather Shama Rao Acharya (58).
In the accident Shama Rao has broken his hand. The two were returning home after shopping. Shama Rao and his son Ravi run a lathe business in Hoige Bazaar.
The accident took place when Mr. Rao was taking a deviation near Mangaladevi Temple, the mini lorry carrying fruits hit the motorbike from behind, throwing Prajwal aside and Rao on opposite direction.
The residents have urged Inspector Gopalkrishna Rao, to take steps to construct speed breakers on the Pandeshwar – Mangaladevi stretch.
The truck driver fled immediately after the accident.
