Mangaluru: Minister for social development and backward caste department H Anjaneya laid foundation stone for various developmental works of worth Rs 36 crore and inaugurated the post metric hostel at Marigudi Urwa, on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion he said that Ambedkar bhavan is one of the projects which have been flagged off today. The bhavan will be built at the cost of Rs 12 crore.
“The bhavan is not only restricted for Dalit community people. Anyone can avail this facility. This can be rented for marriage functions or any cultural events. All the necessary facilities will be provided in it,” he said.
He further said that the officials should make sure that the project should be completed before December, as there is no shortage of funds. Along with this project the dream of this region has been come true.
“The state government led by Congress has been decided to construct a Ambedkar Bhavan in each district to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar. Under Ambedkar Nivas Yojana 4 lakh houses will be constructed at the cost of Rs 1.5 lakh each.
Minister for forest and ecology and district in-charge Ramanath Rai said that due to the problem of land to construct Ambedkar bhavan, it wasn’t constructed yet. Now it will be constructed by the Congress led state government within a year.
Food and civil supplies Minister U T Khader, MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Harinath and others were present.
