Mangalore : State Forest, Environment and D.K in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai speeking in a press meet on Saturday in his new office revealed that Rs.4 crores were granted by Central govt. to the state for urgent temporary repairs of the Shiradi Ghat National highway which was in a pathetic condition for the traffic to run on.
He accused Mangalore MP(BJP) Nalin Kumar Kateel for not doing anything worthwhile, all these years to repair the Shiradi Ghat road on which thousands of vehicles were moving daily inspite of bad conditions of road. The MP, the Minister said was only indulging in false promises and thriving on gimmicks.
Rai informed the press that the congress govt. which is 200days hold had initiated several schemes for the uplift and food arrangement for the poor people on lines of social service. The race was available at Rs.1 per kg for BPL families.
He added that central transport Minister from Udupi, Oscar Fernandes gad allotted Rs.1000 crores for the surface development of the state roads, whereas the BJP govt. in its entire rule had allotted not more than Rs.125 crores for road repairs.
He assured the reporters that the Yettinahole project as not taken off on scientific lines so far.
