Mangalore : C T Ravi, District in Charge minister inaugurated the infrastructural work of Ropeway Bridge connecting Sultan Battery with Tannirbavi on Jan 18, Friday.
Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat said that the infrastructure work is handed over to Mangalore based company Yojaka India Limited, which complete the project at the cost of Rs 12 crore in one and half years. The bridge will be constructed at 25 meters height, 3 meters width and 410 meters length.
Speaking about other state government sponsored tourism projects, he said that the state government will also set up 3D planetarium in the name of Swami Vivekananda, golf course at Tannirbavi which links to Ropeway Bridge; Marine Aquarium worth Rs 250 crores and the tender bidding process is in progress and water sports to set up in Mangalore.
The 3 meter width will be dividing into one and half meter each to move in two ways. The bridge has the resistance power to bare Tsunami and earthquake and said to be the biggest ropeway bridge in India as per length wise.
Speaking about the technical part of the bridge, Bhat said that Girish Bharadhwaj is the technical advisor of the project. The 55 mm rope is used for the bridge construction, while metal girder is used for the base. The bridge also has two pillars with 8 rock bottom piles, which will be placed from the rock under the water and hen one and half meter pile cap which will be a slab above it, so that it will be the strongest bridge.
This is said to be the third programme related to the same project and the initiation of construction work started today.
