Udupi : Minister for Ports and Fisheries and Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and urged him to allot a total technical life expired airframe/obsolete airframe for display at the Dr. Kota Shivaram Karanth Theme Park at Kota in Udupi district.
A press release issued here on Tuesday said that Mr. Poojary submitted a letter and informed Mr. Singh about the Dr. Kota Shivaram Karanth Theme Park. He also told Mr. Singh that a 10-day cultural festival was being held every year to mark the birth anniversary of the Jnanpith award winner late Kota Shivaram Karanth at the theme park at Kota.
This festival involved various cultural, art and literary activities and a large number of people from different areas participated in it. A large number of students visited the Karanth Theme Park almost daily on study excursion tours. Besides, there was no airframe on display in the region, he said.
He urged Mr. Singh to consider the request for an obsolete airframe on a priority basis and allot it to the Karanth Theme Park. Such an airframe, symbolic of patriotism, would add beauty and meaning to the Karanth festival, Mr. Poojary said.
