Mangalore : District in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar said that Karnataka Biodiversity Board has decided to give special inducement for protecting the trees belonging to endangered species from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.
He was speaking at the inaugural of wild life week celebration at Dr Shivarama Karanth Biological Park at Pilikula on October 1, Saturday.
He also said that the State Government is focusing to preserve the trees which are on the edge of destruction.
H J Jayaprakash Bhandary, Director of the Park, said that the state government sanction fund of Rs 43 lakh would be utilised for the extension activities of the Park along with the building enclosures for water birds, snakes apart from other development activities.
Palemar also inaugurated the rest house built by Karnataka Bank at the park on the occasion. An exhibition of wild photography was also organised.
Ananth Hegde Ashisara, Chairman, Task Force on Western Ghats and Deputy Commissioner N S Channappa Gowda were also present.
